Photo: Iowa to wear 'Norm' helmet decal for late DC Norm Parker

Former Iowa defensive coordinator Norm Parker, 72, died in January, and the Hawkeyes will honor the longtime defensive coordinator in 2014 with a “Norm” decal on the back right of their helmet. Parker, who joined the Hawkeyes in 1999, retired after the 2011 season.

Under Parker, the 2011 AFCA Assistant Coach of the Year and 2004 and 2005 Frank Broyles finalist, the Iowa defense ranked among the top 10 nationally in rushing defense five times and in the top 10 in scoring defense three times. In 2010, Iowa was fifth nationally in total defense (332.1), sixth in rushing defense (101.5) and seventh in scoring defense (17.0).
