NFL.com's 14 for '14 countdown series recently ranked the best college football coaches, the guys "who can do it all at the top of their game." To little surprise, Michigan State's Mark Dantonio and Ohio State's Urban Meyer landed on the list, at No. 9 and No. 3, respectively.

The only coaches ahead of Meyer are Nick Saban and former Boise State and current Washington coach Chris Petersen.

Here's what Bryan Fischer says about the two Big Ten coaches:

Urban Meyer, No. 3

"Nobody gets fans fired up like Meyer, thanks to his somewhat brash and outspoken nature. Still, it's hard to argue with the results on the field as the offensive-minded head coach has won everywhere from Bowling Green to Ohio State and has two national titles to his name. Considering his worst season is 8-5, Meyer knows exactly what he's doing and is a great motivator."

Mark Dantonio, No. 9

"Consistently one of the toughest Big Ten programs under his watch, Dantonio has been the steady hand that has raised the Spartans' profile to Big Ten and Rose Bowl champions. He won't win any awards on signing day, but he knows how to develop talent and field a top-notch defense."

This isn't the first time Dantonio and Meyer have found themselves on such a list. There was this one, and this one, among others. Plain and simple, these two are as good as it gets.

For what it's worth, four other coaches on the list have Big Ten ties: Saban (Michigan State), Kansas State's Bill Snyder (Iowa), Oklahoma's Bob Stoops (Iowa) and Texas A&M's Kevin Sumlin (Purdue).
