Big Ten question stumps 'Jeopardy' contestants

“Jeopardy” has been around for more than 50 years now. However, it’s not every day that Alex Trebek runs off a Big Ten-related question. That’s exactly what happened on Thursday, when this question was asked: “Now that Rutgers and Maryland are joining the party, the Big Ten Football Conference has X football members?”

The result? None of the contestants had the answer. Andrea, the show’s returning champion, took a stab at it, guessing 12, which of course would have been the correct answer before Maryland and Rutgers joined.

Once the buzzer sounds, Trebek responds: “I know, it sounds weird.”

The Big Ten isn’t alone, Alex. The Big 12 has 10 teams. Conference expansion also has given us Creighton in the Big East.

Sean – not a Jeopardy fan? If you were, you’d know this that was the answer and they want the question of “What is 14 teams?”

Just having fun with ya.

The interesting thing is that Maryland and Rutgers don’t officially join the B1G until July 1st. Not a when-times question by the Jeopardy folks.
