Northwestern and Maryland, the two winningest programs in the history of NCAA women's lacrosse, are months away from becoming Big Ten rivals. Before that time, they'll square off in the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament semifinals at 7:30 p.m. ET Friday night. This is the fourth time in five years that the two schools have met in the tourney.

The winner will advance to the NCAA championship game – 8:30 p.m. ET Sunday – vs. the victor of Friday's other semifinal: No. 2 Syracuse vs. No. 6 Virginia.

Northwestern is in the national semis for the 10th consecutive season, the second-longest streak in the history of the sport (Maryland, 1990-2001).
