Ohio State baseball players are determined to help out teammate Zach Farmer, who was diagnosed with myeloid leukemia in late April. The Buckeyes and staff – 37 in all – swabbed their cheeks with Q-Tips Monday to see whether they are a match for Farmer, or anyone else in the nation.

Farmer, a freshman pitcher out of Piketon, Ohio, recently underwent his first round of chemotherapy and could be eligible for a bone-marrow transplant if he goes into remission.

?Everyone was on board with this," senior captain Tim Wetzel told The Columbus Dispatch. ?This puts the game of baseball into perspective. This is about more than the game. Winning and losing is important, but right now Zach is in a battle for his life. We?re trying to help get him through this."

?We?re trying to support our teammate and brother Zach Farmer," head coach Greg Beals told The Columbus Dispatch. ?We?re also trying to get participation in the registry. Hopefully, we get a match for Zach."
