Welcome to Ohio State, Trevor Thompson. A 6-11 forward from Indianapolis, Thompson, who played his freshman season at Virginia Tech, has announced he will transfer to Ohio State. He chose the Buckeyes over a pair of other Big Ten schools — Indiana and Purdue.

Thompson averaged 5.0 points and 4.7 rebounds in just over 16 minutes per game this past season at Virgina Tech.

Thompson will likely sit out next season due to NCAA transfer rules, but there is a chance he could request a waiver from the NCAA, due to his father's medical condition, and be eligible to play immediately. This would be big for the Buckeyes as Thad Matta's team ranked ninth in the Big Ten with a +.03 rebounding margin last season.

Ohio State also added Temple transfer Anthony Lee to its roster just two weeks ago. Lee is eligible to play this upcoming season, and will be expected to fill a big production void for a Buckeyes club that has lost seniors Aaron Craft and Lenzelle Smith Jr., in addition to leading scorer LaQuinton Ross.

Thompson was at the Ohio State spring game Saturday afternoon.
