In its 12th championship game appearance in program history, No. 1 Minnesota fell to Union 7-4 on Saturday night in a fast-paced affair that featured nearly 90 combined shots on net.

The national title marked Union's first, while the Gophers were shooting for their sixth.

Four Gophers found the back of the net, with Justin Kloos putting the Gophers on the scoreboard first 2:37 into the action. Sam Warning, Taylor Cammarata and Hudson Fasching followed with goals.

Adam Wilcox, who allowed all six Union goals, tallied 41 saves.
