Cyesha Goree had a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds, and Michigan beat Indiana 82-57 on Thursday night in the opening round of the Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament. Shannon Smith had 16 points and Nicole Elmblad added 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Wolverines, who will advance to play Michigan State on Friday at 6:30 p.m. ET. Indiana (18-12) jumped out to a 7-2 lead but Michigan responded with a 30-8 run and took a 43-28 advantage into the break.

Milika Taufa's layup with 9:50 to play pulled the Hoosiers within 10 before the Wolverines scored 12 straight to put the game away.

Alexis Gassion led Indiana, which shot 26 percent from 3-point range and 29 percent from the free-throw line, with 12 points.
