The Big Ten announced its Baseball Players of the Week on Monday. Below are this week?s honorees.

Player of the Week: Taylor Zeutenhorst, Iowa, Sr., OF

  • Helped Iowa to a 4-0 weekend after batting .412, recording an on-base percentage of .500 and slugging .765
  • Went 4-for-6 in a win against Ball State in which he had a home run, two RBI and three runs scored before ending the tournament with a 2-for-4, two-RBI effort versus Nebraska-Omaha
  • Also had a triple and two runs in the weekend opener against Mississippi Valley State
  • Reached base safely in each of Iowa?s first seven games of the season, leading the Hawkeyes to a 6-1 record, their best start since 1985
  • Wins his first career Big Ten Player of the Week honor

Pitcher of the Week: Christian DeLeon, Nebraska Sr., RHP

  • Threw seven innings against No. 1 Oregon State, allowing just four hits and one unearned run in the Huskers? 9-2 victory
  • Struck out five batters against just one walk, while hurling five 1-2-3 innings to earn the win
  • Helped Nebraska to its first win over a No. 1 team since the Huskers defeated Texas in 2005
  • Wins his first career Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honor
  • Claims Nebraska first Big Ten Pitcher of the Week accolade

Freshman of the Week: Matt Hopfner, Northwestern, OF

  • Had four multi-hit games and recorded a .500 on-base percentage to help Northwestern to a 2-2 mark last weekend
  • Posted three hits in the weekend opener vs. Kansas on Friday, scoring two runs with an RBI, before driving in three runs in a victory over Nebraska-Omaha on Saturday
  • Went 2-for-4 in each of the final two games of the weekend against Mississippi Valley State and Ball State
  • Wins his first career weekly honor
