Video: D.J. Newbill hits OT game-winner at Ohio State

Prediction: D.J. Newbill won’t soon forgot his performance in Wednesday night’s win at No. 23 Ohio State. Not only did Newbill score a game-high 25 points, but he hit the game-winner with 1.9 seconds left in overtime to help the Nittany Lions snap their 18-game losing streak to the Buckeyes. Even better: Newbill beat all-world defender Aaron Craft on the final dagger. Watch the shot in this post.

Newbill also hit this big bucket late in regulation:

Congrats to PSU winning despite the BIG zebras trying to hand OSU the victory. Buckeyes had 29 free throw attempts to PSU’s nine; got that ridiculous reversal of a call when the ball went off of Craft; got away with basket interference right before Frazier missed the two free throw attempts (basket should have counted). I guess its pretty commonplace in defending the Buckeyes.

I agree with John. It is pretty sad when a team(PSU) almost has a hard fought victory taken away. The refs definitely blew the Play when Craft lost the ball out of bounds, and then the basket interference by OSU. The top conference in college bball should have referees who are not afraid to make a tough call against the home team. Very poor officiating, or blatant bias? Those refs should be suspended for, at least, a few games.

refs tried to do the same thing for iowa the previous night, but msu overcame it all, as did psu. congrats to nw also, bombing from 3 and wis not being able to hit the broad side of the barn.
