No. 6 Michigan State holds off No. 12 Iowa in OT

(AP) Keith Appling scored 16 points and No. 6 Michigan State outlasted No. 12 Iowa 71-69 in overtime Tuesday night, handing the Hawkeyes their first home loss of the season. Matt Costello had 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Spartans (19-2, 8-1 Big Ten), who avoided consecutive defeats despite missing injured starters Adreian Payne and Branden Dawson.

It’s certainly too bad that MSU can’t translate traveling steps in to airline milage. If they could they certainly didn’t need to purchase tickets for the trip home.

It’s certainly true that the (possibly multiple) non-traveling call(s) was pretty bad. But if Iowa could have made some of those free throws they were handed because the MSU players evidently had bad breath or looked cross-eyed at an Iowa player, they would have won the game.

poor schawk, hey shooting 23 more free throws, maybe if iowa didn’t miss 13 they would have won, but blame some missed traveling calls if it makes you feel better. MSU owns Iowa dude, they were shorthanded and still came into Iowa city and won, how disheartening for you.
