It's not rare to see teams slap the floor as a group as they set up on defense vs. Duke. It's a Duke thing, after all, and teams aren't shy about mocking the tradition when they play the Blue Devils. Who says you can't also do it vs. former Duke products? New Northwestern coach Chris Collins played for Duke and also spent 13 seasons there as an assistant, so perhaps that's why the Spartans all slapped the floor early in Wednesday's game.
Our announcing crew noticed it right away.
"And maybe a tip of the hat, in some round about way, to the Duke Blue Devils and Chris Collins, right?" play-by-play announcer Brian Anderson said.
