Al Borges won't be back as Michigan OC

University of Michigan head football coach Brady Hoke announced Wednesday that offensive coordinator Al Borges will not be retained for the 2014 season.

“Decisions like these are never easy,” Hoke said. “I have a great amount of respect for Al as a football coach and, more importantly, as a person. I appreciate everything he has done for Michigan Football for the past three seasons.”

Prior to joining U-M in 2011, Borges was a member of Hoke’s staff at San Diego State in 2009 and 2010.

The Wolverines will begin spring practice on Feb. 25 and finish with the annual Spring Game on Saturday, April 5, at Michigan Stadium.

Can Ohio State please do the same to its defensive coaches (Fickell/Coombs)?

Brady’s next in line!!! Start with a QB!!! Then install an offense!!! One that works!!!
For OSU yes a change up at DC is badly needed!!! That and start playing these fresh new recruits!!!!

I wonder what Hoke would do to someone on his staff if he didn’t respect the person as a coach or person.( Tongue in cheek)

Offensive playcalling and decisions were a source of frustration the entire season…Hate to see someone lose a job, but I think changes were necessary…I wish Coach Borges the best.

Shouldnt the Defensive co-ordinator have been fired rather than the offensive co-ordinator?
The Michigan offense was able to put up some numbers.
If they actually had a defense then they would look pretty good.

The worst part of the Michigan offense was the O-line, which means O-line coach Darrell Funk should be fired too.

If the word “should” is involved, everyone…Hoke, DC, OC, etc…SHOULD be fired. Going 3-5 in the Little10 is inexcusable for a program with recruiting/talent like UofM. That record reflects laziness and indifference on the part of coaches and players. I understand that most universities like UofM operate like businesses, and therefore they don’t want to make any so-called drastic or abrupt changes; however, I really believe that 3rd or 4th choice Brady Hoke has proven why he was a 3rd or 4th choice and should be let go. Please hire a leader who has some fire in his belly, who has some passion, who has the backbone to say that players are under-performing. Please!
