Did You See This? MSU shirt pokes fun at Michigan slogan

“Rise to the Occasion.” That slogan was featured prominently on Michigan’s Adidas warmup shirts during last year’s memorable NCAA basketball tournament run.

It looks like Spartan fans are having some fun with the slogan. Check out this t-shirt that reads “Rose to the Occasion,” in honor of MSU’s 24-20 win over Stanford in this year’s Rose Bowl Game.

Of course the Michigan-themed shirt was worn on the basketball court, while the MSU shirt is football-related. And technically, the Wolverines did “Rise to the Occasion,” making a run to the NCAA Championship before falling to Louisville in the final.

But, hey, this has turned into quite a bitter in-state rivalry over the past couple of years, so these jabs at the other school don’t have to make perfect sense. Either way, this should create plenty of laughs among Big Ten fans.

Wasn’t the “Rise to the occasion” an adidas shirt for all of their tourney teams?

go Sparty, Michigan will be in the back seat for a long long time. They can’t beat the
the Spartans or the Buckeyes. This is right where they belong.

MSU come talking when you actually win a national championship trophy and win the rose bowl.. I still think they have 30+ games of catching up to do.

@MNC We did win the Rose Bowl. MSU has more National Championships in football since joining the Big Ten (6) than U of M has (1). Not to mention, U of M has lost their last 3 Rose Bowl games.

I have a poster, on cardboard backing and shrink-wrapped, with “We Rose to the Occasion” and the Rose Bowl trophy…the 1994 Rose Bowl trophy. The final score was Wisconsin 21, UCLA 16 and I was there.
