The Big Ten Conference released its Big Ten Men's Basketball Players of the Week on Monday. Illinois' Rayvonte Rice claimed Player of the Week, while Michigan's Zak Irvin received Freshman of the Week. Read more about each player in this post.

Player of the Week: Rayvonte Rice, Illinois, G - Jr. - 6-4 

  • Averaged 21.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game in Illinois? wins over UNLV and IPFW last week
  • Shot 45.5 percent (15-of-33) from the field and 45.5 percent (5-of-11) from three-point range
  • Posted a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds at UNLV, helping Illinois extend its non-conference road winning streak to eight games, dating back to the 2008-09 season
  • Converted the game-winning field goal with 28 seconds remaining in the 61-59 win over the Rebels, and also swiped four steals
  • Scored 17 points, pulled down six rebounds and had two steals in the Illini?s 57-55 win over IPFW
  • Currently ranks sixth in the Big Ten in scoring (17.1 ppg)
  • Earns his first career Big Ten Player of the Week honor

Freshman of the Week: Zak Irvin, Michigan, G - 6-6 

  • Poured in a career-high 24 points in Michigan?s 87-45 win over Coppin State
  • Converted 9-of-13 field goals, including six three-pointers, and pulled down five rebounds
  • His six three-point field goals and 10 three-point attempts both matched season-high marks for Michigan
  • Earns his first Freshman of the Week honor
