The Indiana men?s cross country team earned its first Big Ten title in 33 years Saturday at the 2013 Big Ten Cross Country Championships, hosted by Purdue. The Hoosier men had four runners finish in the top 10 en route to the championship.
As a team, Indiana compiled 51 points, finishing ahead of second-place Michigan (66 points) and third-place Wisconsin (71 points). Saturday?s win gave IU its first conference crown since 1980 and snapped Wisconsin?s 14-year Big Ten title streak.

Redshirt freshman Jason Crist led the Hoosier pack with a fifth-place finish in a time of 24:24 on the 8K course. Rorey Hunter and Carl Smith were just steps behind finishing in seventh (24:34) and eighth (24:34), respectively.
The NCAA Great Lakes Regional is next up for IU?s varsity runners on Nov. 15 in Madison, Wis. Those runners not participating at the regional will compete in the Hoosier Invitational on Friday, Nov. 8, in Bloomington, Ind. at the IU Championship Cross Country Course. That event will begin at 3:15 p.m. ET.
