Our good friends over at ESPN, Andy Katz and Seth Greenberg, went back-and-fourth in a heated debate on a topic that should be of great interest to Michigan basketball fans.

The question: Can Kentucky's heralded incoming freshmen class be as good as Michigan's Fab Five?

The Wildcats have the top-ranked recruiting class in the nation this year, featuring five of the top 10 incoming freshmen in the country, according to the 2013 ESPN 100 Rankings.

Of course, recruiting services weren't anywhere near as prominent as they are now. But, it doesn't take a recruiting analyst to point out how dominant the Fab Five was, considering they carried the Wolverines to the National Championship game during their freshmen season.

When asked if this year's Kentucky class is the best ever, Katz responded– "No, it's not even close. Not even close to the Fab Five."

Katz goes on to argue that Michigan's Fab Five team had three guys – Jalen Rose, Juwan Howard and Chris Webber – who went on to have successful, lengthy NBA careers. He then says that Kentucky freshman Julius Randle is the only guy in the Wildcats' recruiting class who looks "physically more mature."

Greenberg takes the other side of the argument, saying that Kentucky has a very mature-looking class, while also comparing incoming Kentucky freshmen James Young and Julius Randle, to the likes of Rose and Webber, respectfully.

"This is a very deep, talented class," Greenberg said of the Wildcats. "In my opinion, time will tell."

This is a debate that will likely continue into and throughout the 2013-14 college basketball season.

Have at it Michigan fans.
