This is going to be a tough race to the end.

Northwestern almost looks like the favorite at this point, but their crossover games are Wisconsin and Ohio State which could mean two losses before they even get to any games in their division, so that would mean they likely could not lose even one division game–not much room for error.
Michigan is probably still the favorite despite poor showing in their last two outings. Still, though, Gardner is going to have to play much better, and they may not be able to lose more than one division game with Ohio State looming at season’s end.
Nebraska has obvious issues on defense, so every game from here on out could be a shoot-out.
Michigan State can’t score.
Iowa has looked much better than I thought they might to date–but their schedule gets much tougher (save for Purdue) from here on. 8-4 would be a great season for them, but not enough to win the division.
Finally, Minnesota turned out to be a paper tiger. They are probably the only team that literally has no shot (and the poll didn’t even include them).

We are really going to know a lot about all these teams in the next month. Unfortunatly I am not sold on Iowa, if they beat MSU I don’t see them winning until Purdue, so I think this MSU game is a must win to get to a bowl. Nebraska has the easiest coming up schedule to work on their D with. Northwestern has a brutal start as well. I think Michigan goes undefeated in October as well.

The biggest matchups coming up for just this division have to be the UNL vs NU game and the UNL vs UM game. Those will decide everything.

MSU might be strugginling on offense but they still have the best defense in the nation. Michigan is struggling on offense and defense. NEB and NW both have defensive issues. Iowa is improving but we’ll see when they play better competition. This is gonna be fun !
