Another day, another update on the Ohio State quarterback situation. Now, Urban Meyer says Kenny Guiton could start at Cal. Braxton Miller? Looks like it will be a game-time decision on if he starts. Honestly, the Buckeyes should be able to beat Cal without Miller.

Here's Urban Meyer's Tuesday teleconference if you wish to have a listen:

Nice story on Penn State running back Akeel Lynch, who before getting to Penn State had to endure his father?s murder and adjusting to America. Now, he?s a rising talent in State College and part of a good collection of Nittany Lions running backs.

Solid mailbag from Bob Flounders of Pennlive.com, who looks at the Nittany Lions? running back rotation and their third-down issues. Penn State is just 2-for-26 on third downs. Nonetheless, it is 2-0.

Iowa is still trying to figure out its rotation at receiver-and stop dropping passes. Hawkeyes fullback Mark Weisman is still stinging over a big drop in last year?s Iowa State game.

Speaking of Weisman, he plans to play on Saturday even though it is Yom Kippur.

?I?m fully committed to this team, coaches, players, this university,? he said.

Brady Hoke isn?t happy about Michigan?s d-line play thus far; but he?s not irate, either.

"I don't think we were OK, because we had some one-on-one (matchups)," Hoke said about the ND game. "And you're going to have a one-on-one in there somewhere, and the expectation is that we have to do a better job and beat them on the one-on-ones.

"So no, are we satisfied? No. Not even close to it. This week, (Akron is) a wide open attack. Four wide receivers, so it's critical that we get better in the pass rush individually, but also in the games that we want to run with them."

The defensive line isn't immune to youth or inexperience, notes Nick Baumgardner of Mlive.com. Keith Heitzman's a redshirt sophomore. Mario Ojemudia and Ondre Pipkins are true sophomores. Taco Charlton's a freshman. Chris Wormley's a redshirt freshman. These are some young, talented players for a defense that?s only gonna get better and better.

So, Michigan QB Devin Gardner has a monster game on national TV vs. Notre Dame, and he?s now rocketing up the SI.com NFL draft board. Amazing. One. Game.

Lee Barfknecht of Omaha.com gets you caught on the Big Ten in his weekly chat. Good stuff, as usual.

The great Mike Hlas of the Cedar Rapids Gazette ranks this Saturday?s Big Ten games. And, it?s funny. Like everyone else, Hlas and I think UCLA?s visit to Nebraska is the best game.

Michigan State co-OC Dave Warner thinks true freshman quarterback Damion Terry could handle first-game pressure. The Spartans better hope so. This struggling offense needs help, says Mike Griffith of Mlive.com.

"Concern would be the best word. We're not blind, we're not ignorant, we know we have some issues that we're trying to work through, but we're not in a panic mode," Warner said. "We're trying to figure it out with the idea of, long term, who's at quarterback. But it's an offensive problem. What's the solution to get us through this BIg Ten season and ultimately the Rose Bowl?"

But the decision by Mark Dantonio to turn to Terry smacks of desperation, says Graham Couch of the Lansing State Journal. He?s got that right. But, what?s Dantonio supposed to do? He has to try something.

TWEETS THAT MATTERS

My take: Digging up stories like this is becoming like shooting fish in a barrel.

My take: It?s just a matter of semantics.

My take: How many times did Brady Hoke yawn when he said this?

My take: Honestly, OSU won?t need him until Oct. 5 at Northwestern.

My take: Bingo.

My take: This is amazing.

My take: How about wearing capes, too?
