Fourth Quarter: Northwestern 44, Cal 30

No. 22 Northwestern took the lead in the fourth quarter and survived the late stages of the game to take home a 44-30 win over California. With 8:51 to go, Jeff Budzien kicked a 32-yard field goal to give Northwestern the lead, 30-27.

The Wildcats ran for 98 yards during the quarter.

California got even after Vincenzo D’Amato kicked a 39-yard field goal to end a 13-play, 58-yard drive that tied the score at 27.

Budzien made a 32-yard field goal to break the 27-27 stalemate in favor of Northwestern. The play capped off a seven-play, 83-yard scoring drive. The drive also featured Trevor Siemian’s 53-yard pass.

The Wildcats made the score 37-27 when Collin Ellis intercepted a Jared Goff pass and returned it for a touchdown.

California made the score 37-30 after D’Amato kicked a 37-yard field goal to finish off a 63-yard drive.

Northwestern added to its advantage when Treyvon Green ran for a six-yard touchdown, the last of a six-play, 91-yard drive to give Northwestern the lead, 44-30. The drive also featured Green’s 55-yard run.

The Golden Bears’ Goff reached the 400-yard passing mark for the game thanks to 109 in the quarter, and ended his day with 452 yards in all.

California’s Bryce Treggs topped 150 yards receiving for the game in the quarter, and finished his day with 170 yards on 15 catches.

Vitale clinched a 100-yard receiving game with 53 yards in the quarter, part of his five-catch, 101-yard day for the Wildcats.

Northwestern’s Green topped 100 yards rushing for the game in the quarter, and finished his day with 130 yards on the ground.

Third Quarter: Northwestern 27, California 24

California refuses to make things easy for No. 22 Northwestern, despite Northwestern’s 27-24 lead at the end of the third.

Chris Harper caught seven passes for 117 yards and two touchdowns in the quarter to lead California.

Northwestern added to its advantage when Jeff Budzien drilled a 19-yard field goal, the last of a nine-play, 63-yard drive to give Northwestern the lead, 20-10. The Wildcats threw just two times on that drive. Despite driving to the Golden Bears’ two-yard line, Northwestern had to settle for a field goal.

California made the score 20-17 after Jared Goff and Harper hooked up for a 52-yard touchdown to finish off a 75-yard drive.

Goff’s seven-yard touchdown pass to Harper gave the Golden Bears the lead, 24-20, and was the final play of a two-play, 26-yard drive. The drive also featured Goff’s 36-yard pass to Bryce Treggs. The drive was set up at the Northwestern 26-yard line when California recovered a fumble.

Northwestern made the score 27-24 when Collin Ellis intercepted Goff’s pass and returned it for a touchdown.

Harper has caught eight passes for 131 yards on the day so far.

California’s Goff topped 300 yards passing for the game in the quarter, and has plenty of time to add to his 343 total yards through the air.

The Wildcats’ Trevor Siemian hit 200 yards passing for the game in the quarter, part of his 213-yard passing performance thus far.

The Golden Bears will start the fourth quarter with possession at Northwestern’s 22-yard line.

Fourth Quarter: Nebraska 37, Wyoming 34

Nebraska’s Quincy Enunwa caught two passes for 24 yards and a key touchdown catch during the fourth quarter as Nebraska held off Wyoming, 37-34.

Brett Smith led the Cowboys’ offense in the fourth quarter, throwing for 173 yards and two touchdowns, but the Cowboys’ comeback effort fell just short.

No. 18 Nebraska opened up the fourth quarter with a bang, marching down the field for a 13-play, 82-yard drive that ended when Taylor Martinez hit Enunwa for a seven-yard touchdown.

Wyoming capped off a 52-yard drive when Smith found Jalen Claiborne open for a 29-yard touchdown pass to make the score 37-27. Wyoming then cut the score to 37-34 after Smith tossed a 47-yard touchdown to Robert Herron to finish off a 62-yard drive.

Ameer Abdulah and Imani Cross each topped the 100-yard rushing mark for Nebraska.

First Quarter: Northwestern 7, Cal 7

No. 22 Northwestern’s Treyvon Green ran for 40 yards and one touchdown in the quarter, and the two teams are tied 7-7 at the end of the first.

California scored when Vincenzo D’Amato and Jackson Bouza combined for a 10-yard touchdown to cap off a nine-play, 82-yard drive, giving California the game’s first lead. Brendan Bigelow’s 32-yard run took California from the 42 and across midfield to ignite the drive.

Northwestern got even after Green ran 33 yards for a touchdown to end a five-play, 75-yard drive that tied the score at seven.

The Wildcats will start the second quarter with the ball on the Golden Bears’ 38-yard line.

Third Quarter: Nebraska 31, Wyoming 21

Nebraska racked up 143 rushing yards in the third quarter and now leads 31-21.

Nebraska’s Imani Cross ran for 42 yards and one touchdown in the quarter. The Cornhuskers took a 24-14 lead when Cross ran for a 31-yard touchdown to cap a five-play, 65-yard drive.

Nebraska opened up the lead, 31-14, after Taylor Martinez threw a three-yard touchdown pass to Quincy Enunwa to put the final touch on a 15-play, 67-yard drive.

Wyoming made the score 31-21 after Brett Smith and Brandon Miller hooked up for a 22-yard touchdown to finish off an 83-yard drive. The Cowboys passed on six of eight plays on that drive.

Smith has 209 yards passing through three quarters for Wyoming.

The Cornhuskers will start the fourth quarter with the ball on the Cowboys’ 48-yard line.

Wyoming continues to hang on, but still trails No. 18 Nebraska 17-14 at the end of the second quarter.

Imani Cross’ one-yard touchdown run put the Cornhuskers on top 17-14, capping a two-play, 80-yard drive. The drive also featured Ameer Abdullah’s 62-yard run.

Shaun Wick’s six-yard touchdown run gave Wyoming the lead, 14-10, and was the final play of a five-play, 76-yard drive. The drive also featured Brett Smith’s 47-yard run.

Nebraska will start the second half with the ball.

No. 18 Nebraska leads 10-7 at the end of the first quarter thanks in part to 80 passing yards in the quarter.

Nebraska’s Jamal Turner caught three passes for 41 yards and one touchdown in the quarter.

Wyoming got on the scoreboard first with a four-play, 64-yard drive that ended in a score when Brett Smith and Jalen Claiborne combined for a six-yard touchdown. The drive also featured Shaun Wick’s 37-yard run.

The Cornhuskers made the score 7-3 after Pat Smith kicked a 24-yard field goal to finish off a 55-yard drive. Taylor Martinez’s 26-yard pass to Jake Long took Nebraska from the 43 and across midfield to ignite the drive.

Martinez’s 17-yard touchdown pass to Turner gave the Cornhuskers the lead 10-7 after a five-play, 58-yard drive.

The Cowboys will start the second quarter with the ball at their own 33-yard line.
