B1G Player Rankings: No. 8, Devin Gardner

We’re eight days from the 2013 football season kicking off. Indiana (Indiana State) and Minnesota (UNLV) get things started for the Big Ten on Thursday, Aug. 29 on BTN/BTN2Go. To help count down the days to kickoff, BTN.com is ranking the top 25 players. Join us as we count it down, from 25-1, every day.

No. 8: Devin Gardner, QB, Michigan

The only thing keeping Devin Gardner from landing higher on this list is his small sample size. All things considered, Gardner dazzled in his five-start cameo in relief of Denard Robinson late last season. The quarterback-turned-receiver-turned-quarterback amassed 1,320 total yards and 18 touchdowns (11 passing; 7 rushing) in his handful starts, three of which came against Northwestern, Ohio State and South Carolina. Small sample size or not, Gardner is legit; in fact; he’s the Big Ten’s best QB after dual-threat stars Braxton Miller and Taylor Martinez. Not bad for a guy with five starts.

I would like your opinion on this, I have been warning you that Gardner is going to put up 400 yds right in front of your eyes November 2nd. If Gardner is not Heisman Material than how do you explain this fair and objective ranking by a neutral judge that is higher than any Spartan?
Everyone in the building is interested in your response.

brent yarina isn’t a neutral judge for one thing. 2nd, shoelace was a sept heisman 4 years running, how did that work out? third, what impressed you most last time Gardner played MSU at spartan stadium, when he was 5 yards passed the line of scrimmage and threw it, or when he ran in circles for 20 seconds and got clobbered for a 20 yard loss? last, HAHAHAHHAHAH Will you pay up when Gardner gets clobbered again? He isn’t going to get close to 400 yards and 6 TD’s Mark

Doug, I disagree with that comment but you have a right to speak your mind.

You disagree Mark cause you know I’m right. Nice to see you listen to a Spartan, as it should be. Spartan in LA, stay strong too, it’s not easy on this site.
