this is insane. I am going to go homer here, but is Nebraska. Sellout streak dating 50 years! Nebraska is leading in the new ESPN ultimate team draft, where fans vote. Go look up what two teams came in first and second as the greatest college football teams of all time, where fans could vote. Nebraska, Nebraska, Nebraska.

They have never been to Iowa for a game….

Some things that are studied are amazing.

Fan votes are always more reliable than a non-interested party observing and measuring. Noone has ever heard of a bored fan base stuffing an internet voting box. Just never happens.

Yes we have!! and I have been to a game at Iowa/Illinois/Nebraska/Michigan and Ohio St. These rankings are correct except Nebraska should be ahead of Michigan. If Michigan is losing I have never heard that many people be that silent.

its state. youd have to be a number one fan to stay on our roller coaster the past 10 years lol

Old man.. Cornhuskers love their streaks in their smaller venues. PSU (108,000) was in a down-cycle past few years..yet averaged 96,000+ last year..about 8,000 more than Memorial holds! What’s the matter..campus too small to get in the B1Gs?..100,000+..haven’t the Vols & Tide done it?

Well DUH ?! tOSFU has a completely different licensing structure than the other BIG2little12 schools.

Matt Steele on 7/31/2013 @ 5:36pm EDT Said:

What the hell do they mean by “best?”

If they mean passionate and fanatic, then maybe it’s correct.

But if they mean informed or a fan base you don’t mind being around even though you’re not a member, HELL NO.

I live in Ohio, but have never been a Buckeye fan. And there are a few reasons. But one of the main reasons is because they are classless. They rub it in your face when they beat you and they blame the refs when they lose.

Was about to say this is a joke.. but then realized the study is about generated revenue relative to wins and I am not sure how that has any reflection on the fan base… I wonder if they took into consideration the years of wins OSU had to vacate for cheating … Doesn’t appear so, so my opinion, this is slightly skewed.

Mark on 7/31/2013 @ 8:29pm EDT Said:

Really mikah ? How does cheating skew the numbers ? And if you think your “team” has not been guilty of the same thing but just not caught , then your the one the joke is on !!!!

Big Brother on 7/31/2013 @ 8:31pm EDT Said:

Gary, it’s a good thing we don’t lose anymore at the Big House then. thanks to our young student fans, we have the best home field in the Big Ten with the second longest home winning streak in the nation behind Northern Illinois. Hoke knows nothing but victory at Michigan Stadium so far after 2 years and 14 games

Wisconsin fans are the worst. Iowa fans are ignorant.

Matt on 8/1/2013 @ 12:20am EDT Said:

This is really a misleading title for the study (and a rather disingenuous one for the article here), as it’s only looking at overall revenue from fans, and apparently nothing else. That’s hardly a gauge of the quality of a fanbase–just a measure of their wallet size.

Really…I expected better from the Big 10 and this website. There are better ways to drive traffic than to use bait tactics and misleading articles.
