Minnesota junior-to-be Joe Coleman was granted a release from his scholarship, the Gophers announced Wednesday afternoon.  Coleman, who averaged 7.2 points and 3.3 rebounds in two seasons in Minneapolis, will seek a transfer. The guard will have to sit out next season due to NCAA transfer rules.

?Joe Coleman has made the decision to leave the Golden Gopher basketball program," Minnesota coach Richard Pitino said in a release. "We wish him the very best in the future. We appreciate the contributions he has given the program the last two years.?

Coleman averaged 8.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.1 steals as a sophomore. The highlight of his career came in a 29 point-effort in an 84-67 win at Illinois.
