 DeShaun Thomas and Sam Thompson had 19 points apiece, helping No. 10 Ohio State rout Nebraska 71-50 in the Big Ten tournament quarterfinals on Friday night. The Buckeyes turned a close game into a runaway with an impressive 30-5 spree spanning halftime that included a little bit of everything. LaQuinton Ross connected on three consecutive 3-pointers, Aaron Craft made a couple of nifty passes and Thompson had two jams to go along with a 3-pointer.

FINAL:  After going into the break with momentum, Ohio State (24-7) kept its foot on the gas to start the second half. The Buckeyes were winning 24-23 with 1:17 left in the first half before they went on a 30-5 run to extend their lead to 26 points in the middle of the second half.

A 15-3 run allowed Nebraska (15-18) to take a nine-point lead in the first. Eventually though Ohio State came back and took the lead, 16-15, on a field goal by Aaron Craft.

Sam Thompson had a quality shooting game, nailing 8-of-9 shots from the field and scoring 19 points. The Buckeyes shot 59 percent from the field (26-of-44). Ohio State shot 9-of-18 from three-point range during the game, good for 50 percent. The Buckeyes also got a double-digit game from LaQuinton Ross (11 points).

Brandon Ubel contributed 16 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and went 7-of-8 from the field for the Cornhuskers in a losing effort. Nebraska also got a double-digit contribution from Shavon Shields (14 points).

HALFTIME: Nebraska came out strong with a 15-3 run in the first 6:08 of the half, but Ohio State leads 28-23 at the half. The Cornhuskers led 15-6 when the Buckeyes went on a 12-0 run to take a three-point lead.

Ohio State put the clamps on Nebraska's three-point game (2-of-9, 22 percent from long range), while the Cornhuskers shot 62 percent in the first half on two-point field goals.

Deshaun Thomas is leading the Buckeyes. The junior has eight points and four rebounds. Brandon Ubel led Nebraska in the first half, with six points and four rebounds.
