D.J. Byrd scored 17 points to help Purdue defeat West Virginia 79-52 on Saturday afternoon. Rapheal Davis added 16 points, Anthony Johnson 12 and Terone Johnson 11 for the Boilermakers (10-8), who won their third straight.

Purdue shot 49 percent from the field and outrebounded the Mountaineers 44-34.

West Virginia shot just 29 percent from the field, and the Mountaineers had six assists and 17 turnovers.

FINAL: Purdue went into the locker room with the momentum and came out of the second half flying as well en route to a 79-52 victory over West Virginia on Saturday at Mackey Arena. Purdue (10-8) led 33-23 with 1:24 left in the first half before it widened the margin to 28 points with a 24-6 run that ended in the middle of the second half. D.J. Byrd picked up the offensive load for the Boilermakers, finishing with 17 points, including a strong 4-of-6 effort from downtown. Rapheal Davis was 5-of-6 from the floor and chipped in 16 points for Purdue. The Boilermakers shot 49 percent from the field (29-of-59). More Purdue scoring came from Terone Johnson (11 points) and Anthony Johnson (12 points).

HALFTIME: D.J. Byrd has 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting to lead Purdue to a 37-23 lead over West Virginia at the end of the first half. Terone Johnson and Anthony Johnson each added eight points for the Boilers. Purdue shot 45.5 percent (15-of-33), including 60 percent from distance (3-of-5). Juwan Staten led the way for the Mountaineers in the first half, with eight points.
