Terone Johnson scored 18 points to lead four Purdue players in double figures, and the Boilermakers turned back Nebraska's comeback bid in the second half to defeat the struggling Cornhuskers 65-56 on Wednesday night.

A.J. Hammons added 14 points and eight rebounds, D.J. Byrd scored all 12 of his points in the second half on four 3-pointers and Ronnie Johnson had 10 points and six assists as the Boilermakers posted their first Big Ten Conference road win.

Purdue (9-8, 3-2) has won two straight games and five of seven. The Huskers (9-9, 0-5), playing without senior forward Brandon Ubel for a second straight game, have lost their first five conference games for the second time in four seasons.

FINAL: A run lasting across the halftime break allowed Purdue to defeat Nebraska 65-56 on Wednesday at Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln. Purdue (9-8, 3-2) was winning 20-15 with 6:56 to go in the first half before it went on a 21-6 run to extend its lead to 20 points with 16:46 in the game. Even in defeat, Shavon Shields came through for Nebraska (9-9, 0-5) with 18 points, eight rebounds, and 6-of-11 shooting from the field. A.J. Hammons sparked the Boilermakers, as he scored 14 points, corralled seven rebounds, had three assists, and shot 7-of-12 from the field in the victory. Purdue tallied 16 assists on 25 baskets and grabbed 16 offensive rebounds. Purdue also got double-digit efforts from Terone Johnson (18 points), D.J. Byrd (12 points) and Ronnie Johnson (10 points).

HALFTIME: Purdue held Nebraska's offense to 29 percent shooting, helping the Boilermakers to a 28-19 halftime advantage. The game was tied 8-8 before the Cornhuskers went into a funk, going the next 4:11 without scoring, and allowing Purdue to take a 16-8 lead with 10:28 to go in the first half. The long-distance game has been bottled up for the Boilermakers, who made 1-of-8 from beyond the arc in the first half, while shooting 57 percent (12-of-21) on two-point shots. Nebraska's Shavon Shields leads all scorers with nine points, while A.J. Hammons has eight point to pace Purdue. Ronnie Johnson and Terone Johnson each added seven for the Boilers.
