In this post, have a look at two parts of the "BTN LiveBIG – Indiana" TV show where we feature several stories that showcase the impact of people and programs at Indiana. But here we also share Indiana alum Julio Alonso?s story serving as executive director of the Hoosier Hills Food Bank. Last fall, BTN gave students at Indiana the chance to live big, too, and sponsored Trick or Treat for Cans.

Friends of Hoosier Hills, a student run organization that supports the food bank to help Indiana?s fight against hunger and poverty, organized the event. On Halloween, over 170 students put on fun and scary Halloween costumes, and trick or treated for food donations in Bloomington, collecting 2,000 pounds of food. This event was so successful, Friends of Hoosier Hills are looking forward to making it an annual tradition.

As for the TV show profiles, BEST, or the ?Building Entrepreneurs in Software and Technology? competition, at the IU Kelley School of Business was created by a group of investors with an $11 million fund. This competition allows students to submit business plans focused on Internet and software technology and receive monetary awards to start up their companies.

And the Indiana University School of Medicine has teamed up with the Joining Forces initiative, and together they are researching various veteran-related health issues, ranging from neurosciences, to traumatic brain injuries, to stroke evaluation, to management of chronic pain. The pair is working to create a model that can help public and private hospital systems around the country.
