Wisconsin holds off Nebraska, 47-41

Jared Berggren scored 12 of his 13 points in the second half, Ryan Evans had 10 points and 15 rebounds, and Wisconsin held Nebraska to one basket over the last 6:19 in a 47-41 victory Sunday. The Badgers (11-4, 2-0 Big Ten) won their fifth game in a row and held their ninth straight opponent to 60 points or fewer.

The Huskers (9-6, 0-2), coming off a 70-44 loss at Ohio State in their conference opener, have averaged just 42 points the last four meetings with the Badgers.

FINAL: Wisconsin used stingy defense to defeat Nebraska 47-41 on Sunday at Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln. The Badgers (11-4) held Nebraska (9-6) to 37 percent shooting from the field and grabbed 30 defensive rebounds, while only allowing three offensive rebounds. Ryan Evans helped spark the Badgers, with 10 points and 14 rebounds. The teams traded the lead nine times in the game. Wisconsin had trouble finding its touch, shooting just 38 percent (20-of-52) from the field. More Wisconsin scoring came from Jared Berggren (13 points).

HALFTIME: Neither Nebraska nor Wisconsin has found much success in the scoring department, and the game is tied 19-19 at the break. Through 20 minutes of action, a major weapon for the Badgers has been shut down, as the Cornhuskers have limited Jared Berggren to one point, well below his season average of 13.4..
