I agree with Spartan in WI, I watched the replay of the game and its obvious that Tyrone Johnson ran to the the huddle and tried to go after Dawson. He didn’t get in the huddle because the refs and coaches stopped him. Purdue people keep saying Dawson should be suspended because it looks like he tried to punch Caroll, even though he didn’t touch him. So TJ should be suspended for trying to attack Dawson, even though he got restrained and couldn’t.

Johnson was probably just pissed because MSU was destroying Purdue by over 20, again, and he was shooting something like 3 -16 at that point. Someone who is that bad at losing shouldn’t be at Purdue, where he will experience a lot of that. He’s lost more than hrs won already.

Dale, you are not even close in your description of what is on the recording. Terone Johnson did not rush into th huddle to assualt anyone as you say. First Raf Daviswas walking to th Purdue huddle and said something to Dawson who turned around quickly and came after Davis. No one was IN the MSU huddle. No one attempted to assualt anyone. Then TJ said someting to Dawson and Dawson came after TJ who did not back away as Davis did. That is when the MSU assistans pushed TJ away. . Anthony Johnson then grabbed TJ and pushed him even further away. TJ then went to the Purdue bench and was very demonstrative in showing that Dawson had thrown a punch. You can read TJ’s lips when he said “he hit him”. I suggest that you look at that part of the video. Nothing is accurate that you said, nothing. Have you read Dawson’s actual explanation of what happened. “No, I didn’t hit him,” Dawson said. “He had lunged into me and his arm, we were like both locked. He had his arm locked in my arm and I just came around and I just, you know, tried to knock him off.” This was a quote from the Detroit Free Press, Dale. Again if you view the tape you will see bythe time Dawson swung his arm they were no longer entangled, they were clearly seperated. So… MSU lied about the chest thump. Dawson lied about being entangled……and it is what it is. and the beat goes on. msu,msu,msu

If Dawson has a history of “that crap,” as Dale so eloquently stated, how come he had never been assessed a technical or even a flagrant foul in his career until the last game?

Dale – You need to re-think the “eyes checked” comment. When do you think Terone Johnson rushed into the huddle? It wasn’t immediately after that shot, as you Purdue people contend (just another example of Purdue people making up “facts” to fit their narrative).

Harris hit that shot that Dawson celebrated with an arm pump, with ~6:55 left on the game clock. If you don’t believe me, look at the clock in the video clip above. After that, Carroll inbounded the ball, Purdue went down the court and missed on their possession, like usual. MSU (Dawson, actually) got the rebound, and outletted to Travis Trice to start a break. Trice was fouled, and a TV timeout was called at 6:30 – 25 seconds of game clock after the Harris make.

MSU and Purdue then went to their respective huddles, and during the TV timeout, Terone Johnson ran over and attempted to assault Dawson in the huddle. At that point, he was literally physically restrained by the officials and MSU grad assistants. Raphael Davis ran in after him, and tried to go after an MSU assistant that was helping the refs hold back Johnson & order him back to his huddle. While Johnson & Davis were still barking at the wall of MSU grad assistants that had by then formed, a third player (I can’t tell his number) tried to run over, but was blocked by the refs.

All of this happened during the TV timeout, and was replayed by the broadcast coming out of the timeout. If you still have this game on your DVR, it happened close to two hours into the recording, like at about 1:57. And by the replay that BTN showed out of the timeout, it was clear that MSU’s huddle had formed, the Purdue players were on their end of the court, and Johnson ran back in.

I’m sure the BTN, which owns this very forum in which we’re having this discussion, can also throw up a clip of that part.

Spartan in WI, you really need to get your eyes checked, dude. The Purdue players had to walk past the MSU huddle to get to their own. MSU brought their huddle onto the floor. They never were at MSU’s bench, not even close.

Dawson through a punch, no doubt about it. Even his own description is that he hit Carroll’s arm off of himself. MSU should take ownership that they have a hot-head and suspend him themselves. Dawson has a history of this crap.

The Big Ten needs to resolve this, for fear that someone will take matters into their own hands. He says that he is a good guy, but there is no evidence of it.

Wow! I was done with this but now Dawson has spoken to,the press with his own story that is different from the MSU party line. His story is completely without possibility of being credible. This is really sad for MSU.

I’ve looked and the only comment I can find from the Big was from Izzo. Painter has said nothing to date, nor Carroll, that I can find as of today. My take is that this is done and it is time to move on. MSU had the opportunity to demonstrate that they were doing the right thing with credibility but chose not to. That is thier right, they have no obligation to anyone other than themselves, the Big, and the NCAA. IMHO MSU complicated everything by saying they had a different video but not producing it for the general public to see. Again, MSU had no obligation to share data with anyone else. They chose to make a public statement in an attempt to end the controversy but chose not to release the tape.. Their choice. All fans will continue to believe what they want because there is no definitive information. Branden Dawson is a very talented player. So was Ron Artest, Dennis Rodman, Bill Lambier, Latrell Sprewell, etc. I hope Branden doesn’t become one of these guys. One thing I can guarantee is that on Feb 9th Painter will have worked with his team to control the emotions to avoid problems. I wish I had the same confidence in Izzo to do the same.
