Marcus Thornton scored 21 points, but it wasn't enough to lead William & Mary past Purdue as the Boilermakers won 73-66 on Saturday at Mackey Arena in West Lafayette.

FINAL: Terone Johnson sparked Purdue (6-6), as he scored 16 points for the Boilermakers in the game. Purdue hit 47 percent of its field goals (28-of-59). Other Purdue scorers in double figures included Ronnie Johnson (11 points) and A.J. Hammons (14 points).

Kyle Gaillard had a quality shooting game, nailing 4-of-7 shots from the field and scoring 12 points. William & Mary shot 50 percent from the field (27-of-54). William & Mary (7-4) also got double-digit contributions from Brandon Britt (11 points) and Tim Rusthoven (16 points).

The Boilermakers went to the line 13 more times than the Tribe and made the most of their opportunities, shooting 14-of-19. William & Mary committed 16 fouls and made 5-of-6 free throw attempts.

HALFTIME: William & Mary took full advantage of the stellar combination of Kyle Gaillard and Brandon Britt, ending the first half against Purdue up 40-39. Gaillard scored 12 points and shot 4-of-4 from the field. Britt scored 11 points and shot 5-of-6 from the field. Nine Purdue players have scored. D.J. Byrd led the way for the Boilermakers in the first half, with eight points.
