Aaron White had 18 points to lead Iowa past rival Iowa State 80-71 on Friday night, snapping a three-game losing streak against the Cyclones. Freshman point guard Anthony Clemmons added a season-high 14 points and eight assists for the Hawkeyes (8-2), who also beat Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg for the first time in three tries.

FINAL: Aaron White scored 18 points to lead Iowa to an 80-71 win over Iowa State on Friday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City. A run lasting across the halftime break allowed Iowa (8-2) to grab the advantage.

The Hawkeyes trailed 36-33 with one second1 seconds left in the first half, but a 15-3 run allowed them to take a nine-point lead early in the second half. Adam Woodbury had a quality shooting game, nailing 4-of-5 shots from the field and scoring nine points. Iowa also got double-digit efforts from Mike Gesell, who scored 11 and Anthony Clemmons, who scored 14.

Korie Lucious scored 14 points for Iowa State (6-3) in the game. Chris Babb shot 5-of-8 from the field and scored 13 points for the Cyclones. Iowa State also got double-digit performances from Tyrus McGee, who scored 12, Georges Niang, who scored 13, and Percy Gibson, who scored 14. Down 31-21 late in the first, the Cyclones broke out for a 15-2 run to take a three-point lead with 26 seconds left in the first half.

Babb capped the run off with a field goal that helped the Cyclones lead 36-35 at the half. The Hawkeyes were more on target with their field goal shooting, maintaining a 46 percent (30-of-65) field goal percentage to Iowa State's 42 percent (25-of-59).

HALFTIME: Neither Iowa's Roy Devyn Marble nor Iowa State's Will Clyburn have been able to get going, but the Cyclones lead 36-35 at the half. Trailing 31-21, Iowa State used an 11-0 run to blow past the Hawkeyes and take a one-point lead.

Iowa has been effective inside, making 12-of-22 two-point field goals, but the Hawkeyes have struggled on the perimeter, shooting 1-for-10 from three-point range. Iowa has found a way to neutralize the Cyclones' leading scorer, Clyburn.

The senior enters halftime with no points after averaging 16.1 a game so far this season. Aaron White is putting together a nice game so far for the Hawkeyes. The sophomore has 14 points. Georges Niang led the way for Iowa State in the first half, with 13 points.
