Aaron White and Josh Oglesby each scored 13 points and Iowa rallied from a 23-point deficit to clip Gardner-Webb 65-56 on Saturday night. The Hawkeyes trailed by as much as 38-15 late in the first half before a 15-0 run cut Gardner-Webb's lead to eight.

Iowa took its first lead, 47-46, with 8:22 left, and Devyn Marble's 3 with 2:17 to go put Iowa ahead 60-52.

Adam Woodbury had 12 points for the Hawkeyes (4-0), who outscored the Runnin' Bulldogs 47-18 in the second half and survived a major scare.

Onzie Branch had 13 to lead Gardner-Webb, which shot 19 percent in the second half.

FINAL: A run lasting across the halftime break allowed Iowa to defeat Gardner-Webb 65-56 on Saturday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City. Josh Oglesby sparked Iowa (4-0), as he scored 13 points in the victory. Adam Woodbury was 5-of-6 from the floor and chipped in 12 points for the Hawkeyes.

Iowa struggled from the floor, shooting 37 percent (19-of-52). The Hawkeyes went 21-of-32 from the charity stripe as a team (66 percent). Other Iowa scorers in double figures included Aaron White and Roy Devyn Marble, who each scored 11.

Onzie Branch scored 13 points and shot 6-of-10 from the field for Gardner-Webb (2-3) in a losing effort. The Runnin' Bulldogs shot just 33 percent from the field (20-of-61). Gardner-Webb also got solid contributions from Donta Harper, who scored 10 and Max Landis, who scored 12.

Leading 18-12 in the first, the Runnin' Bulldogs used a 20-3 spurt to open their cushion to 23 points with 11 seconds left in the first half. Branch finished the run off with a field goal, which helped Gardner-Webb lead 38-18 at halftime.

HALFTIME: Gardner-Webb held Iowa's offense to just five first-half field goals, and the Runnin' Bulldogs lead 38-18 at halftime. Gardner-Webb led by as many as 23 points in the first half and never trailed. Leading 24-15, the Runnin' Bulldogs went on a 14-0 run to open up a 23-point advantage.

Roy Devyn Marble, the leading scorer this season for the Hawkeyes, has not made much of an impact through the first 20 minutes. With zero points, the junior will need a strong second half to get to his usual level of production (17 points per game).

Four Hawkeyes – Melsahn Basabe, Josh Oglesby, Aaron White and Adam Woodbury – have scored four points. Gardner-Webb's Max Landis has a game-high eight points.
