The offense led Purdue to 14 third-quarter points, and the Boilermakers now lead 20-10. Purdue threw for 75 yards and ran for 97 yards in the quarter. The Boilermakers expanded their lead to 13-3 thanks to a one-play, 63-yard drive that ended when Robert Marve tossed a 63-yard touchdown to Akeem Hunt.

Illinois made the score 13-10 after Dami Ayoola pounded in a 16-yard touchdown run to finish off a 69-yard drive.

Purdue opened up the lead, 20-10, after Akeem Shavers ran six yards to paydirt to end a three-play, 78-yard drive. The key play on the Boilermakers' drive was Ralph Bolden's 63-yard run.

The Fighting Illini have the ball at Purdue's 43-yard line to begin the fourth quarter.
