Jeff Budzien’s 43-yard field goal gave Northwestern the lead 6-5 after a six-play, 16-yard drive. Tony Jones’ punt return put the Wildcats at the Spartans’ 42-yard line to open the drive. Northwestern threw the ball on all five plays during that series.
Michigan State will get the ball to start the second half.
