Michigan got things going through the air, passing for 183 yards in the quarter, and the Wolverines now lead 28-10. Michigan has erupted for 14 straight points. The Wolverines broke the 7-7 deadlock when Devin Gardner found Roy Roundtree open for a 37-yard touchdown pass to finish off a six-play, 79-yard scoring drive. Denard Robinson's 40-yard run from the 30-yard line pushed Michigan into enemy territory.
Iowa made the score 14-10 after Mike Meyer drilled a 26-yard field goal to finish off a 55-yard drive.
The Wolverines added to their advantage when Gardner turned a quarterback sneak into a one-yard touchdown run, the finishing touch on an eight-play, 75-yard drive to give Michigan the lead, 21-10. The key play on the Wolverines' drive was Gardner's 51-yard pass.
Michigan opened up the lead, 28-10, after marching down the field for a seven-play, 87-yard drive that ended when Gardner threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Vincent Smith. Gardner's 31-yard pass to Jeremy Gallon took the Wolverines from the 34 and across midfield to ignite the drive.
Michigan's Gardner topped 200 yards passing for the game in the quarter, and has plenty of time to add to his 204 total yards through the air.
The Wolverines will receive to start the second half.
