Purdue ran it and thew it well in the third quarter, and it now leads Iowa, 24-21, entering the fourth quarter. Purdue racked up 78 passing yards and 78 rushing yards in the quarter. However, Iowa came up with the biggest play of the quarter, when Micah Hyde recovered a fumble and returned it for a score to make bring the Hawkeyes withing three points.

Purdue opened up the lead, 24-14, after Robert Marve and Gary Bush hooked up for a 10-yard touchdown to end a two-play, 66-yard drive. The Boilermakers' drive was highlighted by Ralph Bolden's 56-yard run.

Also in the quarter, James Vandenberg hit C.J. Fiedorowicz on a five-yard touchdown pass.

Purdue's Marve reached the 200-yard passing mark for the game thanks to 78 in the quarter, and currently sits with 210 yards in all.

The Boilermakers will start the fourth quarter with possession at their own 35-yard line.
