2nd quarter recap: Illinois 3, Minnesota 3

Minnesota’s Donnell Kirkwood ran for 73 yards in the quarter, and the two teams are tied 3-3 at the end of the second. The Golden Gophers tied things up at three when a 10-play, 75-yard drive ended after Jordan Wettstein made a 20-yard field goal. Minnesota’s drive was keyed by Kirkwood’s 48-yard run.

Despite driving to Illinois’ three-yard line, the Golden Gophers had to settle for a field goal. Minnesota kept the ball on the ground during the drive, throwing only one pass.

The Fighting Illini will start the second half with the ball.

The talking heads doing the game don’t seem to know or don’t care that the U. of I. is in Urbana-Champaign. We are in this thing together.
