Iowa took home a victory, 86-55 over Texas-Pan American on Friday. Aaron White helped spark Iowa (1-0), with 16 points and 6-of-9 shooting from the field. A 17-2 run led the Hawkeyes to an early 15-point lead. White knocked down a field goal that capped off the run by the Hawkeyes and helped Iowa lead 45-24 at the half.

Zach McCabe shot 5-of-9 from the field and scored 14 points for Iowa. The Hawkeyes shot 7-of-16 from three-point range during the game, good for 44 percent. Iowa also got a double-digit game from Roy Devyn Marble, who scored 11.

Aaron Urbanus had 13 points for Texas-Pan American (0-1) in the loss. Josh Cleveland had a quality shooting game, nailing 6-of-7 shots from the field and scoring 12 points. The Broncs shot just 35 percent from the field (23-of-66). Texas-Pan American also got double-digit games from Jesus Delgado, who scored 10 and Brandon Provost, who scored 13.

The Hawkeyes never trailed in the game. Iowa's largest lead was 37, which came with 3:43 remaining. The Hawkeyes were winning 33-22 late in the first before they went on a 12-2 run to extend their lead to 21 points with 30 seconds left in the first half. White capped the run off with a field goal that helped the Hawkeyes lead at the half.

Free throws played a key role in the outcome, as Iowa not only went to the line 17 more times than the Broncs, but made the most of its opportunities, shooting 17-of-25. Texas-Pan American committed 22 fouls and made 4-of-8 free throw attempts.

HALFTIME: Iowa went on a 12-2 run to close the first half on a high note and leads Texas-Pan American 45-24. The Hawkeyes built their lead by attacking the rim and getting to the foul line. Iowa shot 14-of-20 free throws in the first 20 minutes.

The Hawkeyes never trailed in the first half and led by as many as 21 points.

Trailing early in the game, the Broncs went cold, going 3:42 without a point while Iowa went on a 14-0 run to open up a 17-2 lead. Texas-Pan American's Brandon Provost, has been shut down thus far going 0-6.

Zach McCabe is putting together a nice game so far for the Hawkeyes. The sophomore has 11 points. Jesus Delgado led the way for the Broncs in the first half, with 10 points.
