What if the two ineligible teams were Indiana and Illinois? Would we even be having this discussion then? The answer is NO, so to be fair the Leaders champ needs to be given their opportunity. If the Leaders representative is Indiana then they will have earned that spot by making a tough come back from their 0-3 conference start.

If Indiana makes it, it will be a fun underdog story and the media will treat it that way — heck, they already treated just the possibility of it that way: a mediocre program with a mediocre team that has the chance to do something special. Are they a BCS caliber team? of course not. If they make it, will it be partly because of circumstances that fell into their laps? of course. But they still have to put these last few wins together and each one just adds to the buzz. Sure, that buzz is partly because of the ridiculousness of the whole thing. If they accomplish it though, it would be down right unjust to take it away from them just because some find them subjectively unworthy. Let the chips fall, and enjoy the story that emerges. That’s how sports should be.

Tom once again loving on Michigan, aren’t you supposed to be unbiased? Next year in the title game won’t be M-OSU either, so you might as well get over it already.

I think Wisconsin or Indiana playing in the title game is ridiculous especially if Michigan and Nebraska both win out the rest of the season.
