Thanks to a mean rushing attack, Ohio State now leads 38-14. The Buckeyes rushed for 75 yards in the quarter. The Buckeyes' defense held tough in the quarter, holding Illinois to 21 total yards of offense. Ohio State opened up the lead, 38-6, after Braxton Miller kept it himself for a two-yard touchdown run to end an 11-play, 73-yard drive.

The Fighting Illini made the score 38-14 after Jon Davis pounded in a one-yard touchdown run to finish off a 42-yard drive. Illinois began the drive with good field position after the Fighting Illini recovered a fumble. Illinois put two points on the board when Matt LaCosse completed a two-yard pass. The Fighting Illini plodded along, gaining no more than nine yards on every play.

Ohio State's Hyde reached the 100-yard rushing mark for the game thanks to 64 in the quarter, and currently sits with 127 yards in all.

The Buckeyes will start the fourth quarter with possession on their own 40-yard line.
