Illinois' Nathan Scheelhaase threw for 51 yards and one touchdown and ran for 31 yards in the quarter, and the two teams are tied 7-7 at the end of the first. Indiana tied things up at seven when an eight-play, 75-yard drive ended after Stephen Houston pounded in a two-yard touchdown run.

The Fighting Illini got on the scoreboard first, rattling off a nine-play, 73-yard drive that ended in a score when Scheelhaase threw a two-yard touchdown pass to Eddie Viliunas. Scheelhaase's 28-yard pass to Darius Millines took Illinois from the 27 and across midfield to ignite the drive.

The Fighting Illini will start the second quarter with possession on the Hoosiers' 42-yard line.

Player on the spot: Illinois QB Nathan Scheelhaase. He has had injury issues, which have put a damper on his season. But he should be good to go coming off an off week. With Scheelhaase under center, the Illini offense is much better. He must use his play-making skills to generate some offense for Illinois to have any shot. And, make no mistake about it: The Illini offense must score some points since they?ll be matching drives against a Hoosiers offense that ranks No. 3 in the Big Ten with 34.7 points per game.

Key matchup: Illinois offense vs. Indiana defense. These units are struggling. The Illini offense is last in the Big Ten (309.6 ypg); the Indiana defense is last in the Big Ten (448.ypg). Illinois has the lowest scoring offense in the league (18.1 ppg); Indiana has the worst scoring defense in the conference (31.7 ppg). Do you see where this is going? Something has to give.

Key number: 6, passes defended by Illinois defensive end Michael Buchanan. That?s the most in the nation by a defensive lineman.

Key note: For the first time in school history, Indiana has scored 24-or-more points in seven straight games in the same year.
