Looks like the Iowa running back hex continues. Sophomore sensation Mark Weisman didn?t appear on the depth chart released today by the school. He apparently hurt his right ankle in the Hawkeyes? 19-16 double-overtime win at Michigan State last week after running 26 times for 116 yards.

True freshman Greg Garmon and Jordan Canzeri are listed 1-2 for Iowa?s game vs. Penn State at home this Saturday. Garmon has dealt with an arm injury, while Canzeri hurt a knee in spring drills.

Weisman has seemingly come out of nowhere to emerge as one of the Big Ten?s top backs, ranking fifth in the Big Ten in rushing (105.2 ypg). The transfer from Air Force has rushed for over 100 yards in four consecutive games, sparking a struggling Iowa attack since taking over for injured Damon Bullock, who began the season as the starter before hurting his head. Bullock was slated to return last week but didn?t. Bullock hasn?t played in the last three games.

Iowa?s rushing game ranks No. 9 in the Big Ten (154.7 ypg). The Hawkeyes are 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the Big Ten, tying Michigan atop the Legends Division.
