Gene Smith and Ohio State aren't messing around. The Buckeyes said they wanted to schedule top nonconference teams in future seasons, and they're doing  just that. A week after announcing a home-and-home series with TCU, Ohio State announced Wednesday a home-and-home with Texas.

The Buckeyes will play in Austin, Texas, in 2022 and in Columbus in 2023. The series marks the first time the two schools have played since the 2009 Fiesta Bowl. The national powers also played a home-and-home series in 2005 and 2006.

?Playing a program like the University of Texas always creates remarkable experiences for our players and fans,? Smith said. ?Our last series with the Longhorns contributed to the great history and tradition that Buckeye Nation enjoys.?

Texas leads the all-time series 2-1.
