Tonight at 8 p.m. ET on the next episode of "Big Ten Elite" we look at one of the defining seasons of Wisconsin football. Barry Alvarez took over a program that was at the bottom of the Big Ten in 1990, but by his fourth season the Badgers were on the rise.

Few could have seen that this group of overachievers would win the 1993 Big Ten title and the Rose Bowl. Relive how the Badgers announced the return to college football?s elite - including their victory over Michigan and the season-ending trip to Tokyo to face Michigan State that clinched their ticket to Pasadena. Featuring interviews with Alvarez, Joe Panos, Darrell Bevell and Brent Moss among others.

Here's a good 2011 story from at FoxSportsWisconsin.com's Jesse Temple, who looks back at that season and the Rose Bowl game. Temple notes how far the Badgers had come.

"Wisconsin hadn't even produced a winning season since 1984, let alone contended for a conference title. And when Alvarez took over the program in 1990, it stood in complete shambles, a perennial bottom-feeder considered an afterthought in the college football world. During his first season, the Badgers finished 1-10."
