Trailing 10-0 early in the second quarter, Northwestern got on the board when Venric Mark pounded in a two-yard touchdown run to put a bow on an 18-yard drive. The Wildcats started in good field position when Northwestern recovered a muffed punt.

Trevor Siemian's 11-yard touchdown pass to Tony Jones finished off an eight-play, 66-yard drive and gave the Wildcats the lead, 14-10. Northwestern didn't run a single time during that series.

Zach Zwinak ran for 27 yards and one touchdown in the quarter for the Nittany Lions. Penn State has given up 14 straight points. The Nittany Lions opened up the lead, 10-0, after Zwinak ran one yard to paydirt to end an eight-play, 40-yard drive. Evan Lewis' punt return set Penn State up to start the drive.

The Wildcats will receive to start the second half.
