Is this Ohio State's new Nike Pro Combat Uniform?

Ohio State Uniform

@jbakes4

Nike outfitted Ohio State with Pro Combat uniforms for its games against Michigan in 2009 and 2010. So when an Ohio State journalism student tweeted pictures of what he said was a Nike Pro Combat uniform for this year’s game, it got our attention. Ohio State’s response? It told me it has not announced anything with regard to any uniform change for a game in 2012.

For what it’s worth, it doesn’t seem like this is a legit uniform. There’s these tweets:

Ohio State also wore Nike Pro Combat uniforms in last season’s win over Wisconsin.

This is,”The Ohio State University” and they in my way of thinking needing all if these off the wall Uniforms !!!! Let the Student Athletes wear the Uniform that is and was always worn that helped Ohio State be Unique. Stop all this craziness with different uniforms for the game against that school up North. Play that game as it is meant to be played in the same uniform that has been worn for at least 50 years. Have Faith. Go Bucks !!!!

At least they look acceptable. So many of these special Nike unis are tacky.

The “same uniform that has been worn for at least 50 years” was last changed in 2006.

This was already somewhat leaked (unknowingly) during the “Training Days” episode with the photo over Urban Meyer’s shoulder of the uniform.

Once the athletic department went down the slippery slope of Pro Combat uniforms, there was no turning back. Now it’s whatever helps recruiting and/or Nike.

Just laugh when Gene Smith originally said it was a “One-Time Thing”.

The only truly noticeable change in the uni in 2006 was removing the gray in the armbands. It basically resembled every uni we’ve worn before the gray was added anyway.

Just find a sports memorabilia store and inquire as to what’s on order. I’ve done that, and I’ve learned that Ohio State is set to wear Oregon-esque uniforms for the Buckeyes’ AWAY game at Wisconsin. That means white or gray jerseys with reflective silver or dark gray helmets. I don’t know about the pants; Nike doesn’t sell replicas of those to fans. OSU does NOT have plans to wear Pro Combat unis when the Buckeyes host Michigan.
