Northwestern racked up 84 rushing yards in the third, and the margin is still 28, as the Wildcats lead 35-7. Northwestern made its lead 35-0 when Treyvon Green pounded in a 33-yard touchdown run on the last play of a six-play, 71-yard drive. The Wildcats kept the ball on the ground during the drive, throwing only one pass.

A 56-yard drive that ended when Josh Vander Maten scrambled for a four-yard touchdown run helped South Dakota narrow the deficit to 35-7.

Venric Mark clinched a 100-yard rushing game with 20 in the quarter, part of his 117-yard day through three quarters for Northwestern.

The Wildcats have the ball at the Coyotes' 38-yard line to begin the fourth quarter.
