Louisiana Tech's front seven stepped up in the second quarter, allowing Illinois to gain just 21 rushing yards, and the Bulldogs now lead 21-17. The last 10 points have been scored by the Fighting Illini. Illinois capped a one-yard drive when Taylor Zalewski kicked a 26-yard field goal to make the score 21-10. A fumble recovery by the Fighting Illini set Illinois up at Louisiana Tech's 10-yard line to start the drive.

The Fighting Illini made the score 21-17 after Donovonn Young ran one yard to paydirt to finish off a 57-yard drive.

The Bulldogs will start the second half with the ball.
