Since it's an election year, it seems appropriate that USA Today declared a winner in its fan-powered contest to name "America's Best College Town." And the winner by popular vote is … Madison, Wis., home of the Wisconsin Badgers. The newspaper's website reports that Madison edged out Virginia Tech's Blacksburg, Va. Also, a late surge in voting made Columbus, Ohio, the contest's third-place finisher. Something tells us not everyone will agree with this result.

Here's the original USA Today survey in case you want to take issue with the decision. And here's the story from USA Today declaring a winner. And, of course, here's the USA Today photo gallery featuring their top finishers in the contest. Now excuse us while we once again watch BTN's Jay Wilson take part in "Jump Around" at a Wisconsin football game in the video in this post.
