Mark Weisman rushed for 41 yards and one touchdown, and the Iowa Hawkeyes now lead 24-16. Iowa made its lead 24-13 when Weisman ran two yards to paydirt on the last play of a four-play, 75-yard drive. The key play on the Hawkeyes' drive was James Vandenberg's 51-yard pass.
Northern Iowa put a bow on a 52-yard drive when Tyler Sievertsen made a 25-yard field goal to make the score 24-16.
Iowa will start the fourth quarter with the ball on the Panthers' 40-yard line.
